Zooey Deschanel stars in the new music video ‘Hey Girl’

Fans and viewers of FOX’s hit comedy series New Girl can choose their own adventure when party crashers invade the Deschenl’s loft in the new full-length, interactive music video for “Hey Girl,” New Girl’s theme song. The interactive video opens with Jess (Deschanel) and roomies Winston (Lamorne Morris), Nick (Jake Johnson) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) getting ready to host a party for a bunch of friends. From there, the outcome is up to you.

According to Zap2it, there are more 950 variations of the video depending on which path the viewer chooses. There are different types of parties such as beach, toga, 60s and pajama that see many different costume changes, which includes an extremely short kimono being worn by Schmidt.

In addition to choosing party themes and costumes, users also get to choose which dance Deschanel will attempt, including the chicken dance, Madonna’s trademark Vogue moves or the Russians squat dance known as the Kozachok.

And for those extra keen viewers, there’s hidden content that, according to the press release, will “elevate the party to even more outrageous levels of fun!” Once the video concludes, fans can share their custom creations with family and friends through social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

Zooey – who co-wrote “Hey Girl” along with New Girl creator Elizabeth Meriwether, writers David Finkel and Brett Baer, and Michael Andrews – recently spoke about her inspiration for the theme song.

“I wanted something upbeat that really felt like a theme song and the theme song from Mary Tyler Moore (Show) felt really upbeat and gets you ready for a show about someone who is taking on a new life,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. “And when we went into produce it, we sort of thought we wanted to have a Lovin’ Spoonful feel.” Decide Zooey Deschanel‘s path for yourself in the “Hey Girl” interactive music video at Fox’s website.
