GROUP A MATCH PREDICTIONS
TEAMS: South Africa (86), Mexico (15), Uruguay (19), & France (7)
With a passionate home town crowd and a spectacular Brazilian coach, Carlos Alberto Parreira the host team can make a good run for fortune in the biggest sporting event on the planet. Though with a low FIFA ranking of 85, it seems to be the weakest of the four teams in the group. However, historically speaking the host of this tournament has always managed to advance past the group stage. South Korea and Japan in the 2002 world cup defied all expectations when they managed to comfortably reach the quarters.
Astroyogi Predicts: It would be an extremely difficult fight for South Africa to make a place in the pool qualifiers. Their chances are dim.
Mexico is a team to watch in the group, with a ranking of 17 this could be the team to watch for in this group. They have hit a good winning streak and will fight their way for a second place in the group only after France. It’s between them and Uruguay as to who goes through in second place.
Astroyogi Predicts: The probability for Mexico to qualify for the quarters is higher as compared to Uruguay and South Africa.
Uruguay, a team that has made just two appearances in the last five FIFA world cup finals has a license to shock everybody in the tournament. Their 62 year old boss Oscar Tabarez certainly has the resources to advance beyond the group stage led by striker Diego Forlan with forward Luis Suarez and captain and central defender Diego Lugano.
Astroyogi Predicts: The chances for Uruguay to get a 1-2 ranking are bleak due to the presence of Mexico.
Finally, France the group’s favourite is all set to finish at the top of the group. With the likes of Captain Thierry Henry, Nicolas Anelka, and youngster Karim Benzema, Boss Raymond Domenech has an excellent squad at his disposal. The group looks weak enough for France to qualify and with a lack of depth in group B they should make it to the quarter final.
Astroyogi Predicts: France undoubtedly will be the winner of pool A.
