FACEBOOK GAMBLES ON GAMES USING REAL MONEY

www.slashgear.com - Having just gone public earlier this year, it seems almost expected that the company would be moving toward revenue streams such as real-money gaming to keep in step with investors expectations. As it turns out, the move we’re seeing today is only what appears to be a very limited test of what Facebook can do with gambling with real cash, and only with two games in Britain. The first is a simple online “Bingo Friendzy” game created by the independent developer Gamesys. The first game with real cash money being sent to users who win is indeed going to be passing out the dollars - or the pounds, rather - to users as Bingo ramps up. Gamesys also confirmed that they are doing this completely in-step with Facebook, with the both of them sharing profits. The same company, Gamesys, has confirmed that they’re bringing a slot machine game to Facebook rather soon. Facebook’s confirmation that they’re allowing this business to go forth came in the form of a statement sent out to the press this morning.

Before being permitted to play, users have to verify their identity in their accounts, proving that they are over 18 and located in the UK. Also, Facebook has an age-gating technology that will mean that any activity related to the games will not appear in timelines of users who are under 18 years of age. Real money gaming is a popular and well-regulated activity in the UK and we are allowing a partner to offer their games to adult users on the Facebook platform in a safe and controlled manner. How they’ll be regulated on fairness in both games in the near future is not known. 
Linda Griffin for Facebook also mentioned that they’ve only got the UK on the books thus far for any current or future plans for online real-money gambling. She did not mention what the cut for Facebook or Gamesys is for gambling happening now or in the future. There’s also been no specifics shown on how random the gambling system is or if any relegation is being done on the games that would otherwise be under the eye of the casino or gambling commission in charge of the physical region its in.

Bingo Friendzy, developed by the British online gambling company Gamesys, was introduced on Facebook this week. It allows players to stake cash in 90 bingo and slot machine games. The app is marketed with cartoon graphics featuring characters that have been compared to those on Moshi Monsters, the popular children’s social network. It has prompted anger from many people who claimed that this visual marketing is the kind that you see in children’s games, with bright colours and friendly characters, and this may lead young persons to the vice of gambling.

These are namely gambling, liquor and all other stimulants, illicit sexual intercourse, violence (brutal killing of defenseless creatures) and gold (money used in the service of the Lord properly does not fall into this category). The practice of gambling breeds dishonesty, drinking of intoxicants and taking of stimulants lead to loss of austerities. Mingling with women leads to a loss of cleanliness. Violence to living creatures leads to a temperament devoid of compassion all together. Thus all forms of irreligiousness spring up from these vices. In fact, the greed or illegal accumulation of money or gold is the cause of the other four vices though by itself is in the fifth position. Hence those desiring their highest welfare should not indulge in any of these sinful activities at all, especially the religious minded person.
