I was just reading that coal stocks jumped today, fueled by Mitt Romney's words about supporting the coal industry in last night's debate. If the president says that your life's work is evil and should be done away with, of course jobs are going to be lost and the industry is going to flounder.
"By the way, I like coal. I'm going to make sure we can continue to burn clean coal," said the former head of the private equity firm, Bain Capital.
"People in the coal industry feel like it's getting crushed by your policies," he told Obama.
Amazing how just a few words of encouragement can have such a positive effect. Imagine the positive effect if it was certain that Obamacare would be repealed or that small businesses and those all important job creators could enjoy PERMANENT tax relief.
There are a few glimmers of hope out there. If Obama is re-elected, there will be no hope.
