High Tech Solutions from DirecTV

Well my DirecTV receiver went south last Wednesday and after 6 days, the friendly technician finally arrived to fix my problem. We plugged in the old unit and he listened to the hard drive clatter and search for its mind. He just shook his head and pulled a brand new unit from his bag of tricks. 15 minutes later he was gone and the new DVR was up and running.

Why did they not just Fedex me a new DVR 6 days ago?
